Lean
Construction

Delivering more value with less waste — on time, on budget, every time.

Lean Methodology

Less Waste.
More Value.

Lean construction is not a philosophy — it is a set of practical tools and processes that reduce waste, improve flow, and consistently deliver projects faster and more efficiently than traditional construction management approaches.

CONTECH applies lean principles on every project we manage. The Last Planner System, pull planning, short-interval scheduling and structured constraint removal are embedded in our standard delivery methodology — not added as an optional extra.

8 Types of Waste We Eliminate
  • 01Waiting — idle labour and plant
  • 02Overproduction — work done out of sequence
  • 03Defects — rework and non-conformance
  • 04Motion — unnecessary movement on site
  • 05Transportation — inefficient material flow
  • 06Inventory — excess materials on site
  • 07Over-processing — unnecessary complexity
  • 08Unused talent — team knowledge not utilised
Last Planner System

The Last Planner
System

The Last Planner System is the lean construction industry's most widely used production planning tool. CONTECH applies it on all projects with a programme duration over 12 weeks.

01
Master Schedule
The overall project programme — milestones, phases and key handover dates. Sets the framework within which all lower-level planning operates.
02
Phase Pull Planning
Working backwards from milestone dates, teams collaboratively pull plan the sequence of work — identifying handoffs and dependencies in real time.
03
Look-Ahead (6 Weeks)
Six-week rolling look-ahead schedules that identify constraints — labour, materials, approvals, access — and assign owners to remove them before they become blockers.
04
Weekly Work Plan
Short-interval commitments from the last planners — site foremen and subcontract supervisors. Percent Plan Complete (PPC) tracked weekly with root cause analysis on failures.
Lean Principles

Our Lean Toolkit

Pull Planning

We work backwards from client handover dates to sequence all activities. This reveals hidden constraints and ensures every trade knows what they need from the preceding trade — and when.

Constraint Removal

Constraints — late information, material lead times, access restrictions — are identified six weeks in advance and assigned to a named owner for removal. No constraint arrives at the work face as a surprise.

Visual Management

Digital and physical dashboards display programme status, constraint logs, HSE metrics and quality performance at site level. Every team member can see the current state of the project at a glance.

Value Engineering

We challenge design decisions against cost, programme and buildability — seeking equivalent or better outcomes at lower cost or faster delivery. VE proposals are always costed and timed before presentation.

Continuous Improvement

PPC data, near-miss reports and constraint logs drive structured improvement conversations. We learn from each project and embed lessons into the next — measurably improving performance over time.

Collaborative Planning

Lean works when the whole team is involved. We run collaborative planning sessions with designers, subcontractors and clients — because the people doing the work produce better plans than those managing them.

Build Leaner with CONTECH

We apply lean methodology as standard — not as a premium add-on. Every project benefits from the same systematic approach to waste elimination and value delivery.
